Back to the Island

Last week my husband surprised me with an impromptu trip back to see my family in Washington! He saw that I was really missing everyone and asked me if I would like to take a quick trip by myself since he wasn’t able to take off work. My first thought was “but who will take care of YOU!?”.  We scoped out what the next week would look like and I became more and more excited that I was going to be seeing my family very soon! We booked the tickets and I began to prepare for my five day trip. Preparing meant making meals for Benjamin while I was gone, preparing the music theory lesson for him to teach by himself, and making sure I was ahead in my college work. Have you ever had an impossible list sitting on your desk? Well, I had one before I left and it was only by God’s help that I accomplished it all!

One of the exciting things about my trip was that it was a surprise to everyone but my parents. Since I’m always the one being surprised I thought it would be fun to be on the other end of things. 🙂 Turns out, two of my siblings found out, but either way, I surprised a lot of people! I had so much fun spending time with my family! Had lots of girl time with my mom and sister going thrift store shopping and eating brunch one of the days. The five days included numerous coffee dates and lots of chatting with old friends. It was a blessing to see the Lord continuing to work in lives and in that church. I can’t wait to visit again next summer!

After about the first day I began to dreadfully miss my home here in Pennsylvania.  It donned on me while I was there that my home in Pennsylvania actually feels like my home now! It’s where I belong and I’m incredibly happy here! I’m sitting here cozily sipping a homemade Americano in my lovely new home and I can’t express how grateful I am to the Lord for blessing my life so abundantly with a beautiful home and an amazing husband. I feel overwhelmed by God’s goodness in my life.
