Mosab Hassan Yousef, as a young boy, began his life with anger toward Israel and a desire to terrorize them, however after trusting in the Lord his life was completely changed. The book, “Son of Hamas” was written by Mosab Yousef and is an incredible adventure of his life as a spy among the Hamas. Mosab began this vocation with the idea of stabbing Israel back and leaving a deeper wound, but after beginning this lifestyle he saw another perspective he had never seen before.
The book will give you an incredible insight as to what the thought process and life is like among the Hamas and other terrorist organizations as well as a peek into the Israeli mindset. The terrorist system is run on greed of the leaders, hatred toward Israelites and America, and accompanied with the desire for power. The life they live is something which is difficult for me to even comprehend having grown up in a christian family in America. However, this is lifestyle is real and many needless deaths are caused simply because people are not restraining their fleshly desires. We cannot compare our American lifestyle to theirs and say we are any better, because it’s only by God’s grace upon us that we don’t need to fear for suicide bombers as Israel has to daily watch for.
This book will take your through the streets of the muslim world, the secrecy of the Hamas and terrorist organizations, into the Israelite interrogation rooms and will keep you in suspense as you read about the covert missions of Israel. Each chapter will leave you with the question of how he ever was able to cope with so many overwhelming pressures from such a lifestyle. One particular piece which amazed me was how Mosab had to protect his father from the Israelite military assassination and continue to relay information to protect many people from the numerous suicide bombers who seemed to appear from everywhere. His father at one point prided himself in his thought that he was so successful in avoiding assassination when all along it was his son overseeing his protection. I know this though isn’t related to the book, but when I read that it made me think of how we sometimes think that it is our wisdom which is bringing out success, but really all along it’s God overseeing and directing our path and making sure we don’t destroy ourselves. God is good. If it were not for the grace of God where would I be?
You need to read the book =) Here’s a verse which Yousef used in the end of his book to explain his decision to forsake his previous lifestyle. The christian desires not to be involved with hatred, but rather to live like Christ and love others and share that love with everyone we meet.
Ephesians 4:22-24 – “22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”You can check out the book at this link >> this link<<
