A Night on Broadway!

“The Sun’ll come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there’ll be sun.” was the song constantly sung around our house for weeks. That and “It’s a hard knock life!” even though that wasn’t the case. 🙂 I’ve wanted to see a Broadway show for sometime. Well, ever since I realized how close our town is to New York City! (2 hrs) I’ve always loved musicals, and of course, live is always better. It’s something we had talked about a lot. Going to NYC, doing a little tourism, seeing a broadway show, the list went on. I couldn’t believe it when I opened my Christmas gift from Benjamin and saw the envelope containing tickets to see Annie on Broadway! To say I was ecstatic was putting it lightly. 🙂 Did I mention it was the last weekend they were showing it before it went off broadway?!

The very next week we were on the Staten Island Ferry crossing over to Manhatten with Ben’s parents. And it was a COLD day! Cold and windy. We were bundled up, but nothing can really prepare you for that burst of freezing air tunneling between sky-scrapers. We braved the subway (Thanks to the awesome app Ben discovered) and found ourselves in Little Italy looking for a bite to eat. Through the coercing of one freezing Italian man standing on the side walk, we entered his restaurant eager for warmth and food. And it was authentic Italian, which was perfect for this family. 🙂 The Pasta was amazing! There’s nothing like eating pasta while being waited on by a guy with an Italian accent. Love it!

We hopped back on the subway and got off at Times Square. I can’t believe how bright that place is at night! You would think it was broad daylight. We got some coffee at Starbucks in Times Square (the biggest Starbucks I’ve ever seen!) then made it to the show plenty early. We giggled like little kids when the overture began to play. Live music can do that to you. The show was SPECTACULAR! We had watched a PBS documentary before we went that enlightened us to the whole process of how they did Annie so it was neat to see the end result. All the girls did a great job, especially the lead. We came away smiling and inspired. Inspired to do what you might ask?

Well…stay tuned for more. 😉
