Easy Homemade Salsa

When I say this recipe is easy, I mean IT’S. EASY. It takes me less than five minutes to throw this goodness together. This is a recipe that I make quite often because it’s great for parties, groups, gifting, or just simply having around the house for a few days (if it lasts that long).

It’s a recipe that’s been in my family for years and was passed to us by an old friend years ago. My mom is always asked for the recipe and now it’s the same for me!

Make sure you have a big bag of chips because this stuff makes a lot of salsa! And….it would be devastating to run out of chips when you still have salsa left. 😉

Easy Homemade Salsa

  • 3 jalapeño peppers
  • 1 bunch of fresh cilantro
  • 1 large can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • minced garlic (to taste)
  • salt (to taste)

After washing your jalapeños, slice them into large chunks and chop in food processor till small. (Sometimes I can tell that the peppers are very hot as I’m putting them in so if you want a salsa that’s less spicy you can decide at this step.) Next, wash your cilantro, cut off the stems, and put in the food processor with peppers. Chop until small. Pour in large can of crushed tomatoes and the diced tomatoes and blend. Finally, add garlic and salt to taste. You will need more garlic and salt than you think initially. I always end up adding more after I taste it.

And there you go! By the way, this recipe makes a lot. Enough to feed a crowd. ENJOY!
